The Weekly Pile UP

Volume 8

June 28, 2019

The must-see event of the weekend is the ARCA/CRA Ross Mortgage 150 at Toledo Speedway, Toledo, OH. This week must-see event in racing across the Midwest is, the ARCA/CRA Super Series Ross Mortgage 150 at Toledo Speedway, in Toledo, Ohio.

The event will be an exciting one to watch as the entry list is stacked!  Some of the best all-stars from the Midwest are entered, including defending event winner and Wyoming, Michigan native Brian Campbell. Campbell is looking to close in on the leader of all time series wins, Scott Hantz. After Campbell’s win earlier this season at Berlin Raceway, he now trails by just three victories.

Another stand out driver entered is Corbin, Kentucky driver and current series points leader, Josh Brock.  Brock has three top-five finishes this year including a fifth at Anderson Speedway in the season opener, fourth at Bristol Motorspeedway in the U.S. Short Track Nationals, and a victory at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway which locked him into the chase for the championship at the end of the season.

We would be remiss to leave out West Michigan’s own Johnny VanDoorn who is currently tied for third-most victories in the series, and current ARCA Menards Series competitor Travis Braden, who is tied for seventh in all-time victories at ten.

Rounding out the stellar field are former NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck series competitor Cody Coughlin and Jack Dossey III who is making his debut appearance at Toledo Speedway. Earlier this year Dossey III was able to hold off the field for his first Super Series win at Anderson Speedway beating Braden to the line.

This event is followed up by a 50 lap feature by the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw late-model series which will be another must-see race in of itself.

With the field filled with such a stacked group of drivers who are trying to put their names in the history books for most series wins it’ll be interesting to see who is able to come out on top.

Make the short trip to Baer Field  Motorsports Park

It is Worth the Trip!

If you can not make it to Ohio for the Super Series this weekend, another great race is at  Baer Field Motorsports Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where the nonwinged sprint cars of the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints make an appearance.

As everyone knows, the nonwinged sprints always bring a show whenever they race and where ever they go!  That will hold true for this race with the field of drivers they are expected to have.

Among the regular competitors in the AVBBSS is Bobby Santos III who has won in anything without fenders including wins coming in the Copper Classic, the 2008 Turkey Night Grand Prix, and the 2010 NASCAR Modified Tour Championship.

Another regular competitor is Daleville, Indiana native Aaron Pierce. Pierce is a top competitor when it comes to Midwest sprint car racing, and is one of the more dominant drivers in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan area. Pierce has started to venture into other forms of racing, also competing in the USAC Silver Crown Series and the Trans-Am Series.

Other competitors who could make an appearance include third-generation racer Derek Snyder, Jason Blonde, and the London, Ontario, Canada driver Ryan Litt who is coming off of a two-win season last year with victories at Toledo Speedway and Berlin Raceway.

With the possibility of any of these guys to showing up – plus many more – it is sure to be a great night of sprint car racing.
