ARCA EAST Pensacola 200 at Five Flags Speedway

March 18, 2022

The entry list for the next ARCA East race at Five Flags Speedway, The Pensacola 200, includes drivers from 9 states, Canada and Mexico.  The race this weekend is the second race of the ARCA East season.  The first ARCA East race of the season at New Smyrna on February 15  was won by Sammy Smith followed by Taylor Gray and the podium was completed with Max Gutierrez finishing third.

Last year’s ARCA East Five Flags winner, and East East Series Champion, Sammy Smith returns to ARCA racing, however,  this year with the Kyle Busch-owned team.  Smith has a great deal of success at Five Flags in a Late Model as well finishing Snowball Derby last year in 5th place.

Another driver very familiar with Five Flags is sixteen-year-old Jake Finch who was the 2021 track champion in the Outlaw Series.  Finch will make his ARCA debut Saturday in the ARCA Series driving the #1 James Finch, Phoenix Construction Chevrolet.

Leland Honeyman joined Young’s Motorsports for the 2022 ARCA East season.  The 17-year-old competed in the Carolina Pro Late Model Series last year where he finished second in points. During the ARCA season opener at New Smyrna, Honeyman qualified fourth and ran most of the race in the top 3.  After a late-race restart, Honeyman ended the race with a  4th place finish. “I think we are going to head into Pensacola really strong after having a great finish at New Smyrna,” Honeyman said. “Me and my team are really confident in having a great finish this weekend.”  In regard to the remainder of the season “We are currently doing 8 races in the ARCA Menards East Series (and) looking forward to doing more. I also have one (NASCAR Camping World) truck race scheduled at Bristol in September.”

The Pensacola 200 is scheduled for Saturday at 7 PM CT/8 PM ET and can be watched on FloRacing.
